Jess thinks she heard this first in Whitesburg Kentucky at Cowan Creek Mountain Music school from Anna Roberts Gevalt and Elizabeth LaPrelle’s crankie about fiddler, Lella Todd. It was played by Todd and many others in the valley of the Red Lick Stream that straddles Madison and Estill Counties in south-central KY.
